Our Board of Directors is currently made up of 4 volunteers from across our community. They act as an advisory group and sounding board for all things related to the company.
The board includes:
Evie Strange (She/Hers) - Founding Director, Manager and Chair
Evie is the social and environmental entrepreneur behind Ullapool Unpacked C.I.C. She set up the company after seeing the need in her own life to become more sustainable after having her daughter. She has spent the last 7 years researching and developing the skills to make her idea of a refill shop and community hub in Ullapool a reality.
Evie has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and finds large scale commercial shops to be a sensory overload, she has lived experience of the struggles and challenges faced as a young, single parent on benefits, and has undertaken many learning opportunities to better her skills to run Ullapool Unpacked and get the idea off the ground.
Since 2019, Evie has been undertaking training to broaden her skill set for the benefit of Ullapool Unpacked. During November 2019 Evie attended the Eden Project Community Camp, and has also taken courses including HR for Business, Food Hygiene, Teaching about sustainable periods, welcoming refugees, engaging with the Deaf community, Marketing and more. Evie is also an Outdoor First Aider, Young Persons Mental Health Champion, and previously worked as a lifeguard and youth worked. She has done voluntary work for a number of years through Highland and Scottish Youth Parliament, The Girl Guides, Community Organisations and Charities to name a few. Over the last few years of building the enterprise, Evie has created a large and varied network of contacts. And most recently worked as part of the Highlands and Islands Climate Hub as a Development Officer for Ross-Shire.
All these experiences, skills and networking have given Evie the strong foundation on which to build a business, that coupled with her determination, care for her community and ambitious mindset will see Ullapool Unpacked grow into the accessible and fundamental service that Evie envisaged all those years ago.
Nick Tatchell (He/Him) - A Sustainability Consultant and Community Trust Liaison with skills in Funding and Proposal writing. Nick provides support in particular with thinking about business development and logistics and is also really helpful in looking at funding applications.
Adam Pellant (He/Him) - A Community Development officer with skills in funding application, management and community engagement. Adam has great contacts within many community organisations and networks and has experience writing planning applications and proposals. Adam lives in Lochinver and is really helpful in spreading the word and liaising with the more rural community members we serve there.
Eireann Venters (She/Her) - A sustainable crafts person who makes items using waste materials and with experience working with young people. Eireann is Evie’s Sister and has been involved since the start of Ullapool Unpacked. She provides support and has good links with local families and the school.
